Though her recent output has been the subject of the dreading “selling out” debate, Liz Phair’s first album, Exile in Guyville, is an undisputed masterpiece. From beginning to end, the album has a transcendent quality of truth found in the best music. It's a near-perfect depiction of a smart woman trying to navigate her life and rock music, and “Fuck and Run” is probably the album’s most iconic track. The version here is from the remastered fifteenth-anniversary version, to be released by ATO Records on June 24. The album will come with four bonus tracks and a DVD about the making of the album and Phair’s Chicago neighborhood.
