Australian hip-hop producer M-Phazes' latest project comes by way of a remix compilation, Phazed Out. It finds the deft beatsmith, who has worked with the likes of Pharoahe Monch and Talib Kweli, showing off his skills in terms of completely reworking material from the discography of indie hip-hop label Coalmine.
M-Phazes has received some help from acclaimed DJ Rhettmatic on the project, too, which makes the entire listening experience more like a proper mixtape you might have heard 10 to 15 years ago. You know, like when DJs would scratch between tracks and blend them seamlessly? Yeah, that's exactly what's happening here.
And it all goes down while sharp bars come flying your way from the likes of Masta Ace, Heltah Skeltah, Saigon, Sadat X, Krondon, Phil Da Agony, J-Live, El Da Sensei, and others. If you like your boom-bap to crush your subs with a pair of Timberlands, then you're in luck.
You can stream Phazed Out in its entirety below. It's out now on iTunes.
