The Tel Aviv now Brooklyn-based duo of Hank & Cupcakes has been crafting sweet pop tunes for the last half a decade. And with their single “Sweet Potion,” they produced a single so poppy, that its rambunctious synth, bounce and lyrics would have you jumping off walls as if you’ve just downed a whole bag of sugar. But legendary producer RJD2 has taken that pop flavor even further. Adding some more electricity to the synths that hopped around in the original, he replaced it with some really banging beats and booming percussion. The song instead becomes a serious heart pounding infectious number. The band had stated that the song was about “a time in which we were dealing with a group of people who made us lose a little of our faith in humanity.” Well, this remix makes that sentiment make even more sense.
