We’re happy to announce the launch of the newest version of Prefix. We’ve completely overhauled and upgraded our technology, which means you should find the site to be better integrated, easier to navigate and a far more pleasurable experience overall. We still have a number of bugs to exterminate (and a number of future improvements in mind), but this is by far the best version of Prefix to date. Here’s what’s new:
Artist Pages:
All artists we cover now have individual pages that include everything (photo galleries, news, reviews, features, media) we’ve published about any given artist. The pages will be comprehensive snapshots of whatever bands and musicians we think are worth our (and your) time. In short: It’ll be the best place for you to find out everything you need to know about everyone you need to know about.
Check here for an example.
User Profiles:
You can now register and set-up your personal profile at Prefix. Registering allows you to rate albums and songs and comment on CD reviews, features, news and media clips. Look out for upgraded user features in the future.
Video Player:
At the top of every page, a video player will have the newest videos we post on the site, including those that are exclusive to Prefix (which, of course, we’re really excited about).
Label Pages:
All labels covered at Prefix now have individual pages. Much like the artist pages, these pages will offer a comprehensive look at any given label in terms of the albums it’s releasing.
Check here for an example.
Top Rated/Popular/Prefix Picks:
In the right column of every page, we will highlight the top-rated and most popular articles. We’ll also be regularly updating the “Prefix Picks” tab – a direct line to what we think is best in music right now.
Search:
We’ve upgraded our search function so you can search the site by artist or do a general site search, and it has auto-complete for those of you who lack patience. There are thousands of reviews, interviews and feature stories in the Prefix vaults, not to mention the multimedia and news and special-interest stories. With the new search function, along with all the other architectural improvements, now you can find them.

I like the new site! The subdivided media/features/review sections are nice. Good job.

new setup is great, but the site is ugly as sin now.

What's ugly about it? Looks cleaner.

I love it! Just get rid of the gray "most recent" comment thing underneath each post. And maybe add some more space between posts. It feels a bit cramped right now but otherwise, CHEERS!
Josh H.
I like the "most recent" comment thing, but when the NY Times added it I remember they had a pretty big backlash. We'll have to think about it. I agree we need more space between posts.
new site rules!

what do we have to do to get prefix 2.0 around here?
it's tough to get to 2.0 because some versions have been considered downgrades. if the next version of Prefix is worse it could drop down to version 1.3. i still believe we can get to r.0 though.
