Postal Service doesn't deliver new album

So you're one of the many Postal Service admirers who've been waiting patiently all this time for the follow-up to the duo's platinum 2003 debut album Give Up? Well, according to Postal Service/Death Cab For Cutie singer Ben Gibbard, you can keep waiting. To the sound of a million dashed hopes, Gibbard told Rolling Stone that "There never really was a plan to do a second album," observing that it's "just never been a priority." Gibbard duly acknowledges the anticipation on the part of Postal Service's multitude of fans, but says hopes for a follow-up are "a far bigger deal for everybody except the two of us." But then again, we are looking back at a year that saw not only the release of Guns 'N Roses eons-in-the-making Chinese Democracy, but also the reunion of My Bloody Valentine, so who's to say it's wrong to keep one's fingers carefully crossed?
