Since the Guitar Hero franchise proved that videogame companies could do brisk business by selling guitar simulation games, there have been increasingly ridiculous games developed to cater to specific blocks of the videogame audience, like those that that hate secular rock (like Guitar Praise), and now there’s this: PopStar Guitar, a game aimed at young girls who like playing plastic guitars but also like music by Miley Cyrus, Paramore, and the Jonas Brothers.

PopStar Guitar won’t actually feature a full on plastic guitar however—it features a slip-on sheath for the Wii controller that has only four buttons instead of the customary five. The Playstation 2 version of the game will come with a controller similar to the Wii version.

I’m not really buying that this will be an easy sell among younger girls (I mean, Rock Band has Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and a bunch of other poppy songs), but you can’t blame the makers of the game for trying to get their piece of the guitar game pie. [Wired]
