Polaris Music Prize finalists announced

Owen Pallett and his reign of pooing clouds is soon to come to an end. The ten acts vying to take the Polaris Music Prize this year, after Pallett's Final Fantasy album won last year, has been announced. Polaris is like our northern neighbor's answer to our Shortlist Prize, or whatever we're calling that award these days. Holy crap, people in Canada know Joel Plaskett? I remember him from Thrush Hermit, who released a couple great records in the late 90s/early 00s and then disappeared.

Wow, no love for Besnard Lakes? It's too easy with their album title, but I'd really put money on them as a dark horse to steal it.

Arcade Fire has the best album up there but they've gotten enough love. I'd love to see Feist or the highly underrated Patrick Watson take it. That guy's album is amazing...
