The nominees for the 2007 PLUG Awards were announced today, and voting is now open to anyone and everyone by clicking here. Votes will be tallied until January 26, 2007 with the winners being announced February 10 at Irving Plaza in New York City. The annual PLUG Awards serve a dual purpose: to recognize artists within the independent community with a devoted following and to shine a light on those that deserve to have one. Artists compete in a variety of categories including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and the like. The best in particular genres are also recognized.
Of course, it's not just the artists that get recognized for these awards. There are also categories for Radio Station of the year, Magazine of the Year and Music Website of the Year. Coincidentally, we couldn't help but notice that we were nominated for that last category. Now, we aren't so delusional that we think we have a chance against behemoths like YouTube or Myspace, but since one of those two are a lock to win anyway, why not use your vote to brighten the day of your loyal Prefix scribes? Just a thought...

I'm voting for either Pfork, YouTube or Myspace for the Best Music Website.
