Placebo will self-release their sixth album, titled Battle for the Sun, on June 8th. The album was recorded by Dave Bottrill (Tool) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails). This album marks a turning point for the band, as it is the first after the expiration of their deal with Virgin, and the first with new drummer Steve Forrest. Frontman Brian Molko explained his optimism after these changes: "It's very exciting. There’s a lot of life in the old dog just yet." [NME]
