Anyone sick of the ‘90s reunion bandwagon should look away at this point. The annual Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona offers a mixture of new bands, who are often contained within the now-regular fixture of the Pitchfork stage, and older hands who perform some of their biggest hits.
In 2010, the ‘90s will be back in force as the two major headliners at the event will be the Pixies and Pavement. Hopefully, this will be the culmination of this burst of interest in the decade and things will subside shortly afterwards, although the members of Pavement, who quickly reneged on their we’re-not-going-to-play-many-shows deal, might not be happy about that.
Primavera Sound takes place on May 27-29 at the Parc Del Fòrum, and has been renamed the San Miguel Primavera Sound Festival. No further details about the lineup are available just yet, but tickets are on sale, and a special deal is available that expires this Saturday (Nov. 14)
