Phonte Dropping Solo Debut Sept. 13

Like fellow Prefix writer Craig Jenkins, I would have laughed pretty hard if you had told me last year that 9th Wonder was producing the majority of Phonte's solo debut. But it turns out that's exactly the case, according to an interview with the Urban Daily.

Ever since the two members of the now defunct Little Brother settled their differences this past January, fans were questioning if it would lead to any collaborations in the studio. The answer came reasonably quick with Lil B's "Base For Your Face," a track that also boasted rhymes from Jean Grae and Phonte over a 9th Wonder beat. And the rapper-singer revealed in this interview that he and the producer had plenty of collaborations in store for the coming year. But I don't think anyone was expecting this kind of news.

Phonte's solo album, which remains untitled, is due out Sept. 13 -- the six-year anniversary of the release of Little Brother's The Minstrel Show.
