Phoenix Working On Music For Sofia Coppola's New Film

Hot on the heels of their Grammy win, French rockers Phoenix have moved onto their next project: Writing and recording the soundtrack for a new Sofia Coppola movie. The film, titled Sometime, is in production, and is apparently about L.A., since frontman Thomas Mars had this to say about the soundtrack:

"It's very minimal," said Mars of the new work. "It's almost like sound design. It wasn't like writing songs, it was more about trying to make a sound that fits with a Ferrari and the city of Los Angeles' theme. It was more of an engineer work than a composer."

There's no word on when said film will be out, but expect people to compare it unfavorably with Lost In Translation. [Spinner]
