The stranger-than-fiction saga continues as Phil Spector prepares to be re-tried for the murder of Lana Clarkson. The jury in the notoriously gonzo, gun-happy Wall of Sound sultan's first trial was deadlocked 10-2 in favor of a guilty verdict.
As we begin taking bets on what ill-advised hairdo the curiously coiffured Spector will sport in the wake of the electric-shock afro and bottle-blonde-bowlcut he previously sported in the courtroom, we can't help but wonder what influenced those other two jurors in the first trial. Was one of them Robert Blake? Did one of them just really, really hate B-movie actress Clarkson's Wizards of the Lost World II? We may never know. Meanwhile, Spector showed up to the hearing to set the retrial date (it's on for September) with a Barack Obama endorsement on his jacket. No word on whether Spector met Rev. Jeremiah Wright for lunch afterwards to discuss what further favors could be done for the Obama campaign.
