A mistrial was declared today in the murder trial of music producer Phil Spector. The jury on the case was deadlocked 10-2 in favor of convicting Spector of killing actress Lana Clarkson at his home on February 3, 2003. The trial, which was marked by Myspace threats against judge Larry Paul Fidler, Spector's changing hairstyles and his marriage to twenty-seven year old hairstylist (and alleged threatmaker) Rachelle Short, reached an unsatisfying end for both prosecution and defense. While defense attorneys congratulated the jury for keeping an open mind, the prosecution vowed to spend hundreds of thousands more of the taxpayers' dollars bringing Spector to justice.
