Pharrell delves into just about everything these days, making him a fair candidate for a modern era Machiavelli, and being that he's essentially capable of doing anything and everything you could never do, GQ snagged him for an interview to pick his mind about everything from Blue Ivy Carter to his upcoming Billionaire Boys Club women's line of boots. But those are kind of the less interesting aspects.
He opened by discussing his recent election as a music consultant with Hans Zimmer for the Oscars:
"We have to reinterpret some of the music for the nominees. We have to do other music as well that is at times new and original and at others borrowing from movie scenes... I can't give but so much away. Because Hans and I have tried to keep it under wraps so that there's literally no expectation and people are excited about the stuff we're cooking. We're thinking beyond the usual standards."
He went on to share some words about his current work involving N.E.R.D., an upcoming album with Lupe Fiasco, and producing Jay-Z's "Glory." Here's what he had to say about the Lupe joint:
"I can't talk about that. Lupe is my man and whatever we're talking about we can't really discuss and get into right now. We're talking about some very interesting things."
In the whole of it, he really doesn't say much at all, but you can check out the full deal over at GQ if you want to hear him continue to say "I can't talk about that" in between laconic responses. [GQ]
