Via NMENew Order/Joy Division bassist Peter Hook is writing a book about the famed Manchester club The Hacienda. The club, which was financed by New Order and Factory Records honcho Tony Wilsonand closed in the mid-90s, was heavily featured in Michael Winterbottom's 2002 Tony Wilson/Factory Records pic 24 Hour Party People, and hosted Madonna on her first UK tour. Peter Hook explains the book is tentatively titled How Not To Run a Club. "I realized I'd bored my friends for years with tales from The Hacienda so now I thought I'd bore the general public with it," explains Hook. "But once I started to get into the writing I realized what a huge endeavour it was, and that I was going to have to work on it properly to do it justice." The Hacidnda is largely credited for changing the face of club culture in the UK and around the world.
