Pete Townshend Describes The Super Bowl Halftime Show As It Occurred In His Mind
While the entrance of the term "wardrobe malfunction" into the lexicon has damned the Super Bowl halftime show for the foreseeable future, this year's creaky rock stars, The Who, seemed to be a little bit more of a reach than Prince, Bruce Springsteen, or Tom Petty. Though there is no denying the band has a place in music history, The Who seems even more archival than most other rock bands. Many football fans were left scratching their heads, heading to the fridge, or switching over for a few minutes of the Puppy Bowl. The one place, however, that The Who was a smashing success was in the mind of guitarist Pete Townshend, who happily talks to Rolling Stone about an awesome set that he clearly thinks actually took place. The most telling detail of the interview is when he revels that his eyewear wasn't shades, but reading glasses. Out here in the streets, you need bifocals to see your guitar. [Rolling Stone]

An awesome set did take place. But apparently those of you who have been pissing and moaning about The Who playing the halftime show since it was announced, are determined to criticize about every little detail. Oh and the coment about the reading glasses? It's called sarcasm.

the Who played a solid mini-set of legendary hits, the entertainment value and quality was high and the visuals were exceptional as well.
no, daltry is not young anymore and can't hit the high notes but who cares. they are legends. I wish they'd get Zeppelin next year (fat chance but...)

you were probably stoked that Taylor (great face-fake voice) Swift got best album. your idea of a great halftime show would prob be Beyonce shaking her a** while Christina Aguilera writhed on a stripper pole and Jessica Simpson washed a NASCAR in her pu**y shorts.
