Interesting. Pete Rock remixing Yo La Tengo. "Here To Fall," from the band's most recent record Popular Songs, is the track in question. And the new version is... a remix. There are some spacey tones. There is a verse from the Soul Brother. And there's even snippets of "Fly Like An Eagle." And it sounds nothing like the original. Stream or d/l a low-quality version via Matador, or buy a hi-q version from iTunes.
What's the occasion? A new remix EP, of course. In the past, the Jersey boys and girl have employed indie or minimal-minded artists to do the honors: e.g., Tortoise, µ-Ziq, Nobukazu Takemura, et. al. This time around, they've hired hip-hop's finest backpackers: De la Soul, RJD2 and the Chocolate Boy Wonder. Cop the Here To Fall Remixes EP in 12" or CD format on June 8 (preorder is available also via Matador).
