Pete Doherty to Speak at Irish University

Pete Doherty will have an audience with Trinity College students when he speaks at the Irish university on February 6. Doherty has been invited to lecture at the college by The University Philosophical Society, whose goal in booking him is to give parents validation for refusing to pay for college when their kids major in philosophy. The society’s website states that Doherty will “talk life, love and much more,” and includes this fairly optimistic event description: “[A] taste of what a rock 'n roll (hopefully minus the sex and drugs) lifestyle entails.”*

Doherty joins an esteemed group of prior Trinity guest speakers, including Archbishop Desmond TuTu, Sir Salman Rushdie and United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. His lecture will be a followed by a Q&A which promises to be waaaay more entertaining than anything we have planned for Friday. [NME] *Our emphasis.

Pete Doherty and Salman Rushdie in the same sentence. I guess the end of the world is coming sooner than I expected...
