Pete Doherty rescued from sinking ship

Remember that Denis Leary routine where he posits that bad musicians are immune from dying in air crashes? Pete Doherty was rescued from a sinking rowboat this weekend on icy Lock Lomond, which begs the question of whether this principle translates into over water modes of transportation. Speaking about the incident later, Doherty’s manager Adrian Hunter said that the situation arose when the intrepid crew “lost an oar and sprung a leak.” He went on to say that the situation was “a laugh, but it would not have been funny if someone had died.” As the only other boating accident involving musicians that springs to mind is Simon Le Bon’s near fatal yacht crash, it seems that one half of the hypothesis holds true. Someone should probably tell Thom Yorke not to plan any fishing trips. [Gigwise]
