The troubled life of former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty continues to cause headlines, with the singer now hospitalized immediately prior to an Irish tour. Doherty was set to play a set of dates in Ireland beginning tonight (Oct. 13), but those have now been canceled.
The singer was hospitalized with breathing problems, although it’s not yet known what caused the difficulties. Doherty’s agent has issued a brief statement about the incident, which reads as follows: "Last night Peter Doherty was admitted to Swindon Hospital with exhaustion and breathing difficulties. He is currently under observation by doctors."
Sadly, Doherty has failed once again to keep his personal life out of the press—he was in court earlier this month, where he pleaded not guilty to driving dangerously after a concert in June this year. He will stand trial for those offenses on December 21, and further issues, including a possible drink driving charge, will be tackled after that date.
