Pete Doherty Faces Heroin Charge After Bringing Drugs to Court

Pete Doherty is rarely out of trouble, and so it proved yesterday (Dec. 21), when his brain seemed to stop functioning entirely and he turned up for a court date with a wrap full of drugs in his pocket. The singer was arrested after being given a fine and a ban from driving, which stems back to an incident in June this year.

So, Doherty has now been charged with possession of heroin after the incident. "He was being frisked by a security officer and when he emptied his pockets a clingfilm wrap fell out," an onlooker said. "The security man picked it up and saw it contained what looked like little blue crystals. The security man phoned the police and about six officers came over and waited to arrest Doherty when his case was over."

A spokesperson for the Gloucestershire Constabulary has now confirmed that Doherty will return to court following this arrest: "The 30-year-old from Wiltshire who was arrested in Gloucester yesterday has been charged with possession of heroin and has been bailed to appear at Gloucester Magistrates court in January 2010.”
