The only band that gets nearly comparable reunion hype in the U.K. to Led Zeppelin is The Libertines. And, the principle players involved (Babyshambles head drug user Pete Doherty and Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat) due nothing to quell the speculation. Take last night in London: Doherty dedicated a song (The Libertines’ “You’re My Waterloo”) to Barat during a five-hour set (wow, those junkies do have stamina).
He prefaced “You’re My Waterloo” by saying “I’ve tried to go and see Dirty Pretty Things but got nicked on the way to both. I’d like to dedicate this song to Carlos Barat.”
During the show, Doherty played a lot of Libertines and Babyshambles songs, but also played some funny covers, like “Who’s Got the Crack” by Moldy Peaches. He also played “Salome,” a track that will be featured on his upcoming solo album, due out in September on EMI. [NME]
