Sorry, but with some band names, headlines like that are inevitable. Just as long as I don't turn into, like, Gene Shalit, where I'm trying to tie everything together in some word-wise way, I'll be alright. "Jack and Meg are about to paint some WHITE STRIPES of their on down America's roads as they head out on tour." Yeech. Anyhoo, Chicago-based hard-rock instrumentalists Pelican will be touring North America starting next month. The band is supporting their recently-released City of Echoes. Head on after the jump to where to catch all the loud, droning, metal mania... 7/19 Cleveland, OH - Grog Shop 7/20 Buffalo, NY - Mohawk Place 7/21 Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace 7/22 Montreal, QC - Main Hall 7/23 Cambridge, MA - Middle East 7/24 New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom 7/25 New York, NY - Luna Lounge 7/26 Philadelphia, PA - First Unitarian Church 7/27 Baltimore, MD - Ottobar 7/28 Washington, DC - Black Cat 7/29 Richmond, VA - Alley Katz 7/30 Carrboro, NC - Cat's Cradle 7/31 Atlanta, GA - Drunken Unicorn 8/1 Athens, GA - 40 Watt Club 8/3 Baton Rouge, LA - Spanish Moon 8/4 Austin, TX - Emo's Jr. 8/5 Denton, TX - Hailey's 8/7 Albuquerque, NM - Launchpad 8/8 Tempe, AZ - The Clubhouse 8/9 San Diego, CA - Casbah 8/10 Los Angeles, CA - Troubadour 8/12 San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall 8/14 Portland, OR - Satyricon 8/15 Vancouver, BC - Richard's on Richards 8/16 Seattle, WA - Neumo's Crystal Ball Reading 8/18 Salt Lake City, UT - Urban Lounge 8/19 Denver, CO - Marquis Theater 8/20 Colorado Springs, CO - The Black Sheep 8/21 Omaha, NE - Waiting Room 8/22 Iowa City, IA - Picador 8/23 Minneapolis, MN - Triple Rock 8/24 Chicago, IL - Beat Kitchen 8/25 Chicago, IL - Empty Bottle
I am withholding my interest in this tour until I hear the new record...the couple times I saw Pelican live it felt uncomfortable, like it was weird seeing four scrawny white dudes churn out this massive sound without any vocals to humanize it.
