Sorry, couldn't resist the avian reference. It's all about the animal kingdom today. Artsy metal band Pelican will release the follow-up to 2005's much-enjoyed The Fire in our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw May 22nd on Hydra Head. The title is much less crypto-poetic this time: City of Echoes. The band recorded in Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studio with producer Andrew Schneider, who has also been behind the boards for Unsane and Daughters. A tour in support of the album is still coming together; what is known at this point is that Pelican will put in an appearance at SXSW.
