Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam are prepping for two weeks of recording with Brendan O'Brien in an L.A. studio. The sessions will be among the last for the band's ninth studio album, which they plan to self-release in the United States. Details about any songs are sketchy at the moment, but this session marks the first time the band has spent significant time recording outside of Seattle since 1996's No Code and also the return of O'Brien to full-time producing for the band, which he hasn't handled since 1998's Yield. The new album, as yet untitled, follows Pearl Jam, which sold over 700,000 copies for J Records in 2006. [Billboard]
