Ah yes, Valentine's Day: The one day a year where couples supress feelings of regret and pretend that they didn't settle for what was available. Well, Peanut Butter Wolf is here with a smooth mix to make that pill go down a little easier. Ranging from Bobby Womack to Stereolab, PB Wolf offers up a series of love-tinged jams that are available for download until the end of Valentine's Day. On another note, is it just me or has Stones Throw been way too stable and way too quality for too long? I've been expecting some scandal to break out for some time now. Maybe involving Madlib, royalties and financial impropriety. Or perhaps they secretly possesed the cure for lupus, but withheld it from the public to capitalize on the death of a high profile artist. (Too soon?) Either way, I always feel like a Rawkus-style collapse is lurking in the horizon. Good things always come to an end. (I'm not saying I want that to happen: Holding a janitorial position at the Stones Throw offices would be a dream job for me.) But I digress. Peep the mix below, or download it at the Stones Throw Web site. And remember, the mix is only up through the 14th, so get it while you can.
Stones Throw is so consistent. Kinda scary. Rawkus died and is now back, but I haven't heard many of their acts so I can't state an opinion. Then there's Def Jux which was killing it for a period, but they've been quiet lately.
