Portland, Oregon may be famous (among other things) for their endless incarnation of craft breweries, in congruence with the DIY spirit and championing all things local. Oddly, this too-cool-for-corporate-chain city’s unofficial beer is not from their own backyard but from Milwaukee. Whether due to high number of “starving” artists and musicians per capita or for some mystical image-consciousness, Pabst Blue Ribbon has become the most omnipresent brewski in Beervana.
From September 26-28, PBR will host a music festival, Project Pabst, as a love letter to Portland. The bill is a mix of local and international acts, representing several decades in music history, including Modest Mouse, Tears for Fears, GZA, Guided by Voices, Rocket from the Crypt, and Violent Femmes.
Project Pabst just may fill the void some feel MusicfestNW ( billed as Portland’s largest music festival for several years) has created this year, transforming into a two-day/one-location event in August from almost a week-long/city-wide occurrence in September.
