The members of Pavement have claimed that they won’t be extending their reunion beyond the spate of dates set for this year. The potentially short-lived afterlife of the band has caused fans to snap up tickets in record time, and now there’s one last chance to see the band before they slip out of view once again.
Pavement will be bringing their reunion to a spectacular halt at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 30—although there is always the possibility that more dates will be added after then. But if this is the last show in the tour, it’s not a bad way to go out—and Sonic Youth and No Age will be the support acts on the night.
It’s a strange role reversal for Thurston Moore and his band, who once took Pavement on tour as their opening act. Moore has mused on how lucrative a split and reunion would have been for Sonic Youth, and now he’s finding that out the hard way, although it’s doubtful he cares too much. Tickets for the Hollywood Bowl show go on sale on May 2.
