Pavement reuniting for ATP?
According to Stereogum's source, Flaming Lips' frontman Wayne Coyne, the curator of ATP this year, has asked the legendary California lofi outfit to reunite for ATP NY, and that the band's response was positive.
The news is obviously not 100% certain at this point, but perhaps we can start guessing which seminal album the band would perform. My guess would be Slanted and Enchanted or Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, but it would be funny (and would probably piss off a handful of people) if the band pulled a wild card and played Wowee Zowee.

I think it would make more sense for them to reunite at ATP versus another festival like Coachella. My money would be on Slanted.
Man, this would be exciting if a)I thought it had a great chance of happening and b)I thought Stephen Malkmus could be excited about anything anymore.

I agree, Daba. Even though they're from SoCal, ATP would be a much more fitting venue. Coachella is gorgeous, but what stage would be a good fit for them?
They're not from SoCal -originally from Stockton, NorCal
if they did play @ ATP it would certainly sell out the fest...i was surprised that even w/ MBV headlining/curating last year, it didn't sell out until the last week prior to it happening.
i think they should play the _Perfect Sound Forever_ 10" and then a half-dozen or so of their singles front to back. :D
Wasn't one of the band's last performances at the first Coachella, with Malkmus wearing handcuffs around his mic stand? Would make a perfect comeback to have him start the next show by breaking through the handcuffs.
As for Malkmus looking put out, dude, he is married with a small child.
Uh, playing Wowee Zowee would be amazing. I think playing Terror Twilight would be the worst thing they could do. WZ is epic.
