Pavement Readies New Release to Coincide With Reunion

Don’t have an anticipatory freak out just yet: as previously reported, Pavement will not be recording or performing any new material during their reunion. But for those completists who are bored with the B-sides and radio sessions that came with the band’s last four reissues, Pavement is planning a greatest “hits” (ha!) compilation that may be worthwhile. Says guitarist Spiral Stairs a.k.a. Scott Kannberg:

"There's talk of doing a best of, with some really cool outtakes on that," he explained. "The very first radio show that Pavement ever did has never been released. I don't think anyone's heard it, so we'll put that out there sometime."

No word yet on a compilation release date, but if you catch the band live at one of their many reunion tour dates beginning next March, you're likely to hear some of the songs featured. [NME]
