The ‘90s reunion bandwagon shows no sign of slowing down in the early days of 2010, and Pavement is one of the latest bands to capitalize on the trend. The slew of live dates announced by the band have been selling out fast, and now the inevitable best-of album is set to follow.
Quarantine the Past: The Best of Pavement will be released by Matador on March 9, and will be available as a mid-priced double LP, CD and digital release. No unreleased material is included on the record, but songs spanning 1989-1999 will feature, and Matador is re-releasing the band’s back catalog on low priced vinyl to coincide.
The track listing for Quarantine the Past hasn’t been announced yet—and for good reason. Matador is running a competition to guess the 23 tracks that will be included, and has various prizes on offer, including tickets to see Pavement, complete with flights and hotel rooms, at Central Park in New York in September. More details here.
Very cool contest. Any ideas here, outside of "Cut Your Hair"?
Slanted & Enchanted: "Summer Babe" and "Conduit for Sale" for sure.
"...And Carrot Rope" for the accessibility factor...
"Debris Slide" might be a good shout for an obscure early inclusion. It features heavily in a lot of their live sets.
"Shady Lane," "Father to a Sister of Thought," "Rattled by the Rush," "Trigger Cut"... You'll have to excuse me, I'll be off somewhere crying cause I didn't get tickets to any of the NY reunion shows ::whimper::
All good ones. I'd like to see "Here" on there.
LongestWinter: Enter the contest! Worth a shot, no? You already have a pretty solid list...
Elevate Me Later," "Gold Soundz," "Grounded," and "Folk Jam."
"Zurich is Stained" would be my choice for Slanted and Enchanted, but it probably won't make it. "Range Life" might make it in addition to "Cut Your Hair"
Grounded is a must.
Ugh...I just want their last remastered (expanded) album to be released!!
