Long before Paul McCartney was knighted in 1997 by Queen Elizabeth II and became a "Sir," he apparently was still all about the Royal Family. In an essay that was written by McCartney when he was 10, the future Quarryman wrote that “present day royalty rules with affection rather than force.”
The essay, which was discovered in library archives by a writer researching a book on McCartney, was written in 1953 during The Queen’s coronation and the young McCartney was awarded a coupon for a book or “book token” because of his essay and also likely greased the wheels for his future knighting 44 years later.
