Anyone who has been enjoying listening to Paul McCartney’s solo works on Spotify will find themselves empty handed this morning. Records under his own name and by Wings have vanished from the streaming music service, with Digital Music News reporting that the takedown is mostly coming from Concord Records.
The site claims to have contacted Spotify for an explanation of these actions, although no comment has been forthcoming (so far). Digital Music News reports that the request was issued by Universal Music Group Distribution on behalf of Concord. This comes at an uneasy time for Spotify, with the Black Keys pulling their work from the site, U2’s manager blasting the service, and indie artists reportedly failing to benefit financially from it.
