Via Billboard I wonder if nominees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame get pissed off when other acts get in but they don't. Like, is Iggy gonna throw down on Michael Stipe because R.E.M. is among this year's induction class but the Stooges got left off? Is Nile Rodgers going to slap Grandmaster Flash upside the head because Chic didn't make the cut? Yes, out of a possible nine nominees, five acts will represent the Hall's Class of 2007: Patti Smith, R.E.M., Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Van Halen, and the Ronettes. Besides the Stooges and Chic, the Dave Clark Five and Joe Tex were also left out. Like Cubs fans say, there's always next year. The ceremony is scheduled for March 12 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
Eddie and Dave together again. Believe and it will happen.

She’ll be handling tracks from Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, and, “some people you’d be very surprised at.” Intriguing. Smith is being aided on the album by Flea, Tom Verlaine, and the Black Crowes’ Richard Robinson. The album is expected to be released in late March or early April. [...]
