Patterson Hood usually has a few things going on, but judging from his interview with the
A.V. Club
, 2009 is shaping up to be an uber-productive year for him and the band he fronts a third of, the Drive By Truckers. In addition to hitting the studio to record the follow-up to the critically acclaimed
Brighter Than Creation's Dark
, the Truckers will maintain their rigorous touring schedule, including festival appearances throughout the summer. Perhaps even more interesting though, is the band's collaboration with Booker T., the interestingly named
Potato Hole
. The band's last backing gig, with Bettye LaVette, resulted in
The Scene of the Crime,
so expectations are understandably high for the collaboration. Hood also mentions his "lost" solo album,
Murdering Oscar
, which he says might finally see release in June. [

The comic stylings of Alice Ghostley and Dixie Carter are quite underappreciated. |
