It looks like 2009 is going to be a very busy year for Animal Collective. The band’s new album, Merriweather Post Pavilion, is already generating excitement online, and the band is undertaking a highly anticipated January tour to promote the record. Or, knowing Animal Collective, they’ll play a set of brand new material that highlights their new Bavarian Folk direction.
Panda Bear certainly seems to have moved on from the Merriweather material already. He played a show with No Age on Friday night (Nov. 5) in Miami, where he debuted a number of new songs. Could 2009 also produce a follow up to the highly regarded Person Pitch? That remains to be seen, but one poster on the Collected Animals board has descridbed the new songs as sounding like "African epic night time jams," which sounds intriguing. [via Gorilla vs. Bear]
