Get ready to conga for justice. L.A funksters Ozomatli will release their latest album, Don't Mess With the Dragon, March 27th on Concord Records. The album comes out of an art installation the band created in L.A.'s immigrant hub of MacArthur Park. Ozo members holed up in the gallery, taking inspiration from the art around them. Other sparks of creativity arose from current events. "Magnolia Soul" pays homage to New Orleans, while "Violeta" is sung from the point of view of a Hispanic-American soldier serving in Iraq.

There are few bands I wish I liked more than Ozomatli. They are HUGE in LA, they draw a diverse and passionate crowd from all walks of life in the city, and they are socially active and positive.But I find their music to be pretty cliché and safe. They give high-energy live performances, but on wax, it doesn't translate.
