Owl City Accused Of Album Art Plagiarism

Now that the Black Eyed Peas are no longer wrecking shit up in our collective conscious, we've all set our eyes on the sonic rip-offing of Owl City, aka that band that even your mom knows ripped off the Postal Service. Except now we're looking for signs of more insidious idea-jacking: the band's CD booklet has been found to include unlicensed pictures from some dude's website. Go here to compare them (the Owl City version is above). Pretty damning stuff, but it's unlikely the Owl City dude actually did the photo shop.

I just hope this gets us talking about why we're mad that this dude stole from the Postal Service. I mean, we seriously all liked the Postal Service, and they are experts at being resolutely bland. And now we're like, "This dude is getting rich by being more bland than what we prefer! Frown face! Rabble, rabble." We're going to have to answer for this, all of it, when the Mayans come back. The last Owl City story had like triple-digit comments or something...Open the floodgates!!! Nice write-up.

They're a stain on the face of mom-tronica.

Lets Just suppose Owl City is carbon Copy of The Postal Service. They are not stealing revenue, as the band is completely stagnant, they are not stealing prestige, because if they really are a blatant rip off, everyone would know it.

That being said I really don't think Owl city is a rip off. The vocal style is very similar, bot not the same, and the music has a much bubblier, simpler feel to it, while the lyrics have such a different feel to them, not to mention the different instruments involved in both.
I'm not an expert, but I think they are different enough.
