Oscar nominees were announced today, and while I'll be pulling for Ryan Gosling and Little Miss Sunshine, I have to wonder what in the hell is going on in the Best Original song category. Here's the nominees:"Patience," Eddie Murphy, Keith Robinson, Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls)
"Love You Like I Do," Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls)
"I Need To Wake Up," Melissa Etheridge (An Inconvenient Truth)
"Listen," Beyonce Knowles (Dreamgirls)
"Our Town," Randy Newman (Cars)
Now I don't keep up on my film soundtracks as much as I could, but was the field really so bereft of quality tracks this year that three songs from one movie had to be nominated? Does this not seem a little excessive to anyone else? Leave some comments, and maybe a prediction, in the comments below.

I sure hope Randy Newman beats that Randy Newman bastard.
