The mid-90's were a heady time for the Internet. RMHH (rec.music.hip.hop, for those of you too young to remember Usenet newsgroups) had a long running debate on the chorus of Electric Relaxation. I always liked "relax yourself girl, peace at plan", even though that made the least sense. A new project called the Lyric Wiki promises to help settle bar bets related to the deciphering of lyrics. It's free and includes a discussion tab that will hopefully get lots of debates going. This follows a more commercial deal between Yahoo and Gracenote to provide lyrics. Gracenote already powers the service to automatically identify and fill in tracks when you rip your CD's, so they're a likely candidate. Apple is said to potentially be in talks with Gracenote to provide lyrics for iTunes users. With devices like the iKaraoke popping up, could karaoke take over the nation? Could it be as big as it is in Japan? America cowers in expectation. For what it's worth Lyric Wiki, and my go to spot for hip-hop lyrics, OHHLA, say the chorus is "please set-tle down". Boring!
They are actually right. If you listen you'll hear it. This is one of the longest standing debates in hiphop history tho... I don't know if the internet should be praised or cursed in this situation...
BTW
i hear the please set, but not so much the tie down part. i hear plan at the end.

This is all fine and dandy but who the fuck won the NIN contest on here????? Hasn't it been long enough?
Andrew
Why doesn't anybody just ask Tribe?
Anthony

Relax yourself, girl / Yung Daba is here
Yung Daba
my man thig natural, who thinks that electric relaxation is the greatest song ever made (and he's serious about this) says the lyrics are:"relax yourself girl, be settled down"and he's 100% sure of this.

ok, i'm gonna have to disagree with my man now.i just got that impossible: mission record by de la and they do a tribute to dilla on it. (remember, he producted this song) and they say:"relax yourself girl, let your conscience be free" it's a lot easier to understand on their song.
Phil B
I KNOW for a fact that they said Relax yourself, it could be so clearcuz on da Hip Hop honors they performed it and eninciated that part to the audience
Dominique
I always thought it was "reset player", but that made little sence. And Tribe didn't perform it, it was inb the tribute section, it was Common that said "It could be so clear", however it does fit very well. I'l put my bet on it being that.
