The rarest, earliest mono pressing of the Beatles' self-titled "White Album" ever to hit the collectors' marketplace is up on eBay right now. The first four copies pressed went to The Beatles themselves, and were accordingly numbered 0000001 through 0000004, so your name's got to be Ono, Starr, Harrison, or McCartney to get your hands on one of those, but now 0000005 has reared its pale, blank head, undoubtedly tantalizing Beatlemaniacs the world over. While it's expected fetch a good £8,000, it was only up to £1,320 at last glance. Of course, this happenstance also raises some questions about all those "fifth Beatles" floating around out there; is the band's old DJ pal Murray the K perhaps responding to the impending economic crisis by cashing in on his record collection? Are there solvency issues in the estate of late Beatles sideman Billy Preston? And just who is the Walrus really?

Murray the K actually died quite a while back. But that doesn't mean one of the many Murry the K Jrs. (he had three sons) isn't selling old Fab Four records somewhere!
