Since his death in 2004, most of the memorializations of Ol' Dirty Bastard have been limited to Wu-Tang Clan concerts where, typically GZA (who also does it at his solo shows), leads the crowd through a take of "Shimmy Shimmy Ya." That's about to change this year, however, as a new documentary about ODB, Dirty. One Word Can Change the World, is slated for premiere in November, and a handful of tribute albums are headed down the pike.
The documentary (trailer above) features interviews from ODB's family, the Wu-Tang Clan, and a 13-year-old girl that ODB saved in a car crash. It examines ODB's life, including his stint in prison, his troubles with drugs, and his rise to fame.
The tribute albums, which will be released every other month until November, feature RZA and various Wu-Affiliates like Masta Killah, Killah Army, and others. The first tribute album, All In Together Now Raw, A Tribute to Ol' Dirty Bastard, is due out in May. [Billboard]
