Kevin Barnes has quietly been one of the most prolific musicians on the indiescape lately. Three albums and three EPs in the last three years, that’s a studio release every 6 months! Sure there’s only like, one masterpiece in that span, but that amount of music is certainly impressive.
The Of Montreal project doesn’t show any signs of slowing down either. Today Barnes told Spin he’ll be putting out a new EP The Controller Sphere which is due out in spring, but more interestingly, he’s already three songs deep into the eleventh Of Montreal LP. According to Spin, the three tracks he’s finished are entitled ”This Planet Is an Orphanage,” “Ye, Renew the Plaintiff,” and “We Will Commit Wolf Murder” – which are about par for the course for Of Montreal song names. No release date yet, but given of Montreal’s history, expect the album sometime this winter. The band will also be trekking across the States starting April, check out those dates below. [CoS]
