Odd Future is a music group notoriously associated with controversy.
Today, Odd Future was banned from entering New Zealand after New Zealand immigration authorities came to the decision that they “posed a threat to public order.” This decision arose after authorities became aware of a 2011 incident in Boston, Massachusetts in which some witnesses claimed group members incited fans to attack police officers. According to Border Operations Manager Karen Urwin, this same provision has been used on white supremacist group leaders and high-profile Holocaust deniers.
After Kendrick Lamar cancelled his appearance on Eminem’s Rapture Tour, Odd Future were to fill-in the vacant spot. The band was informed that their Visas had been revoked only an hour before their flight.
