Death metal legends Obituary have finalized dates for an upcoming tour in support of the upcoming Xecutioners Return, set for a US release of August 28th on Candlelight Records. These guys made their mark on death metal scene in the late 80s with a new take on Florida death metal, played with spacious, mid-tempo grooves that are often imitated, never equalled. And there's a reason Obituary is sometimes called the heaviest band in the world - this shit is sickeningly, bowel-looseningly heavy. In true death metal fashion, original Obituary guitarist Allen West was recently incarcerated for a DUI charge and won't be released until 2008. Former Deicide guitarist Ralph Santolla will take up the lead guitar reigns for the tour. Full spate of dates after the jump - Alabama Thunderpussy, Full Blown Chaos and Hemlock support.

I just bought my first album by these guys, the End Complete/World Demise reissue on Roadrunner. No idea why I waited so long, or why I left before their set at Murderfest a few months back.
