NYC-area dance music lovers can get ready to forgo barbecues and the beach this Labor Day weekend: Who needs hot dogs and sand when the Electric Zoo festival is bringing two straight days of banging beats?
Held in Manhattan’s Randall’s Island Park September 5 and 6 (the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend), Electric Zoo’s electronic music festival will span subgenres including house, electro, techno, trance, and indie.
The all-day outdoor festival will feature more than 50 DJs and live acts on four stages, among them heavyweights Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5, David Guetta, Danny Tenaglia, Richie Hawtin, and James Murphy/Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), and crowd pleasers Tiga, Busy P, Benny Benassi, Audion, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, The Whip, and Frankie Knuckles/Andy Butler (Hercules & Love Affair).
Tickets run a pretty reasonable $65 for single-day tickets, $120 for both days. Get more info at http://www.electriczoofestival.com/.
I’m actually glad to skip the traditional beach and bbq scene of a 3 day weekend. The Electric Zoo should be a nice change and with that line-up it’s sure to not disappoint. Having never been before, I’m curious if we will be allowed to exit and enter as we please? Will they be giving revelers wristbands to wear? As much as I want to share in the groove of the shows, I may want to take a break and give my eardrums a break.

Yea, B brooklyn, usually at these festivals they dont allow you to go back and fourth. Just to get in the lines are ridiculous, but no worries, I can almost guarantee you wont want/need to give your ears a break. Hope to see you there, Peace and Love!
