After hearing Jay-Z's dedication to his daughter Blue Ivy Carter, "Glory," a columnist at New York Daily News, Joanna Molloy, was motivated to write an article. Her topic: relating the song to a statistic that 72 percent of African-American children are raised without fathers. She felt that the song could be an inspiration to those fathers and could lead them to stay home with their families.
While that's all well and good, the tweet that accompanied the article wasn't quite as articulate. It was as follows: "Jay-Z's anthem to fatherhood will hopefully inspire black men to stick around for their kids." Loads of people responded negatively to the message, which caused the publication to issue a clarification/apology of sorts: "RE our last tweet, we neglected to mark it as the opinion of one of our columnists." Yeahhh, you probably should have made that one clear. [Complex]
