Today, the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame announced the 10 finalists to be considered for music immortality at its museum in Cleveland and judging by which musicians were selected, this could be the diverse class to enter yet.
Nominees include N.W.A., Public Enemy, Donna Summer, Deep Purple, Chic, Rush, Albert King, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, The Marvellettes, The Meters, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procul Harum and Randy Newman.
So you may be thinking how does that group of finalists turn into inductees? For the first time, the public will have a say on who gets in. From now until December 5 fans can vote on their selections on Rolling Stone’s website. Artists, historians and music biz insiders also will have a say on who will be inducted on April 18, 2013 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
