After Notorious proved that rap biopics could be minor hits, it was only a matter of time before other seminal rap groups would start getting their own flicks. N.W.A. is up next, as it has been announced that a biopic about the L.A. gangster rap outfit, called Straight Outta Compton, is in the works and will include Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy E's widow as producers.
I can't really see the whole N.W.A. narrative being whittled down to a two-hour movie, since there is all the in-fighting, radio-bannings, and Eazy's early death to get to. But since it has principle members involved, it could avoid being a trite biopic along the lines of Notorious, Walk the Line, and Ray. [Idolator]
